Finally, a week where I covered over 50km!

It’s been a while since I’ve done it. In fact, this was my biggest mileage week all year! I covered about 52 km.

Since my last past, I had my Quality Workout night at Runner’s Choice on Thursday. I ran from work to the store and then headed out for the workout, so I covered 11 km total that night. Our workout consisted of intervals at Waterloo Park.

Yesterday morning, I got up and headed out for a nice easy morning run, not too early, but not too late (9am). I covered 6 km yesterday.

Now I just need to keep it up.

What a busy Month!

October has been flying by! It’s been a very busy month. I posted the first weekend of the month when I ran the Laurier Loop, so you know about that part.

The 2nd weekend was Thanksgiving, where I ran a 5K race in front of the Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade. The event was fun, but not quite as good as last year. Last year it was chip timed, they finisher’s prizes, and age group prizes. This year, no chips, no finisher’s prizes, no age group prizes (just top male and female overall), and the cost was the same as last year.

The 3rd weekend of the month, Ryan and I spent Friday and Saturday in Toronto at the Henry’s Photographic, Video, and Digital Imaging Show, then came back here where I ran the Oktoberfest Run on the Sunday. I had a cold starting a few days before that race, but I still ran my second fastest 5K, so that was a pleasant surprise!

This weekend, (almost all better from my cold) I ran the Niagara Falls International Half-Marathon (although on the full marathon crosses borders) and also ran my second fastest time. My fastest half was in Virginia Beach last year, where I ran in 1:57:08, this time I did 1:57:40.

This morning, I made sure not to fall off the training horse and got up to go for an easy run. I did 6.5 km. My next race is an 8K in early November, and then a half marathon in early December. Hopefully I’ll achieve a new PB in Vegas!

Laurier Loop – 10K PB today

This morning, I ran the Laurier Loop, which is a 2.5 km loop run 1 time, 2 times, or 4 times depending on the distance you’re competing in.

I did the 10K, so 4 loops. I wanted to see how consistent I could be (there are split times for each lap as you cross over the mat) and I also wanted to finally get my 50 minute 10K.

The goal time didn’t happen, but I did end up with a new PB. My split times were: 12:19, 13:13, 13:33, 13:00.

Since I don’t have any more 10K races this year, I guess I’ll have to strive for that sub-50 next year.

Speed Work

Last night was speed work with Runners’ Choice at Moses Springer Park. It was a good, hard, quick workout. We ran to the park, then once we were there, partnered up and the first person would run hard around this triangle of trail and grass and then come back and tag the partner. Partner would then go around and tag the first person again when they got back. So, you run hard, then have a short break, then run hard again. We were to do this 5-10 times, so I did 10.

Total distance covered: 6km
